Dillinger Escape Plan – Ire Works
Posted by PacMusic on December 5, 2007
When I heard tell that this was one of the best albums of the year, I just had to hear it. Having heard some of DEP’s previous works, I expected something that would metaphorically blow my brain out of my ears, and I was not disappointed, metaphorically.
This album contains a musical style that I had not heard from DEP previous to this and I don’t know if it was because it was new, or if it was because I wasn’t listening. As well as the music that makes your nose bleed, there are also some proper tracks that you can tap you foot to.
This album required a few listens until the ringing stopped in my ears and I actually heard what was going on in the music rather than the ‘rah rah rah’ of really loud rock.
I kind of didn’t want to write this review, as it means that I have to stop listening to this album as much. I have liked this album more with every listen and it makes me want to listen to the previous albums so that I can have my head blown off, all over again.
