Boy Kill Boy – Stars and the Sea

A flatline of rock.
Each song seems to start at a level of about 0, with the option of travelling up and down to greate a musical histograph of peaks and troughs to create an interesting and dynamic piece of music. Unfortunately the music stays at 0 throughout each song and fails to change. Although the start of each song shows promise and is entertaining in it’s own way, the fact that it doesn’t change causes me to get very bored, very quickly.
Singer, Chris Peck, has a rather monotonous voice and this causes the listener to slowly fall to the ground out of sheer lack of interest. It’s not that it’s boring, as such, it’s just that the level of interest stays the same and end up feeling nothing, I feel that I am a shell of a man after hearing this and that something of my soul has been stolen by the music.
Songs like ‘Loud and Clear’ and ‘A Ok’ that actually have some kind of inflection in the music, stand out as the reasonable tracks on the album, whereas songs like ‘Paris’ and ‘No Conversation’ make me want to jab a pencil into my face.
