Basically a soundtrack to the TV series.
Flight of the Conchords are getting a touch boring. They are reusing a lot of songs that I have already heard and while I really love some of these songs and I’m happy for them to reuse them a couple of times, I would love for them to write some new material. I saw them live in 2004 and they are still using the same songs that I saw them perform then.
Not that this album isn’t good, there are some of my favourite songs on this album, and some I don’t really care for, but I really think that FOTC’s songs are really best when performed live and feel that their HBO live show was their highest moment, (you can see most of this on youtube).
Even though I sound a bit down on this album, it is still one of my favourites of the year, so far. The songs are hillarious and very well performed. The comedy is slick and some of the jokes have been altered slightly to make it work for the CD. The tracks have much better production value than any of the Conchords releases to date.
