Snoop Dogg – Ego Trippin’

Chilled Rap, Snoop Still On Form.

Back when I first got into rap, Snoop was one of my least favourite of the classic rappers, he was too chilled out and slow for my adolescent tastes, but as I’ve grown up, I’ve enjoyed him more and more and it’s good to see he’s still on top form. Even after he brings out a rather cringe worthy Osbournes’ copy, he still can sit on the top of the big rap pile as the king of hip hop.

While, this is never going to compete with the Doggy Dogg of yesteryear, it’s still much better than most things out there at the moment and his rhymes are still top class.

Although, I’m not sure I want to hear about Snoop’s ‘Sexual Eruption’ and some of the songs sound like we’re back in the 80s synth realm, he’s still the Doggfather.

This album was originally supposed to be an album of Solo Snoop, with no supporting artists, but this idea went out of the window and there are other people in here with him. Making the name of the album a bit redundant, as it was so called for the obvious reason that Snoop was going to do the album alone.
One of the best of the songs with supporting acts is ‘My Medicine’ dedicated to Johnny Cash and featuring Everlast on guitar and singing the chorus.

Listen to this album: In a lowrider with girls in bikinis.
